Here are a few things we know you’ll love about the 2021 Silverado, the strongest and most advanced Silverado ever made.

#1 Plenty of Power

Chevrolet knows drivers have different needs whether they’re using the Silverado for their daily commute and weekend projects around the house or they need to haul heavy loads from one job site to another. This is why Chevrolet gives drivers the choice of five powertrains on the 2021 Silverado. Drivers can choose between the 4.3-liter V6, the 2.7-liter turbo, the 5.3-liter or 6.2-liter V8 engines, or the Duramax 3.0-liter turbodiesel.

The 4.3-liter V6 engine is standard on the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. Next in the lineup is the 2.7-liter turbo engine with automatic stop-start technology that comes standard on the LS and RST trims. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque.

The 5.3-liter V8 engine with dynamic fuel management is standard on the LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country trims. It’s paired with an 8-speed transmission on the LTZ and a 10-speed transmission on the LT Trail Boss and the High Country with four-wheel-drive technology. These pairings deliver 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine with active fuel management delivers the same power when paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission on the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss trims.

The 6.2-liter V8 engine delivers the most power to the Silverado 1500 and is available on the High Country, LTZ, LT Trail Boss, RST, and Custom Trail Boss. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the V8 delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque that reflects its impressive towing capacity of up to 13,300 lbs.

#2 Diesel Power

You might’ve noticed that we skipped the Duramax powertrain in the list above, but that’s because the turbodiesel deserves a place of its own. Chevrolet pairs the Duramax 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission and automatic stop-start technology. This combination delivers 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque that pushes the Silverado’s capability to a maximum towing capability of 9,500 lbs. What’s even better is that this power doesn’t come at the cost of fuel efficiency, with the turbodiesel delivering 23 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway.

#3 So Many Options

Like the various powertrains designed to deliver the right amount of power, the Silverado 1500 is available in several trim options. When paired with cab options like crew, double, or regular, the available configurations are plentiful and meet a variety of needs. Some of the most popular configurations in the 2021 lineup include the High Country with the Technology Package on 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, the LT Trail Boss with its 2-inch suspension lift and the Z71 Off-Road Package, and the RST All Star Edition with the Z71 Off-Road and Protection Packages.

#4 Special Editions

Aside from the many standard trim options and configurations, you’ll also love that the 2021 Silverado 1500 is available in several special editions. The LT Trail Boss Midnight offers a stealth design with a blacked-out appearance from the badging to the bumpers and grille. The truck also comes standard with a 2-inch suspension lift, the Z71 Off-Road Package, high-intensity LED headlamps, black dual-outlet exhaust tips, and all-new Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires with 20-inch black wheels.

The Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition mirrors the LT’s blacked-out appearance, suspension lift, and tires but adds a distinctive silver-hammer trim to the interior. The Custom Rally Special Edition is also worth mentioning since it offers a unique design with a black hood and tailgate rally stripes as well as black badging, black assist steps, and a black exhaust tip. The RST Rally Edition shares the same black hood, badging, and rally stripes but exchanges the Custom Rally’s 20-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels for larger, 22-inch wheels.

#5 Trailering and Towing Made Easy

We love that the Silverado 1500 makes trailering and towing easier than ever before with Chevrolet’s suite of trailering technology. The Silverado 1500 offers up to 15 available camera views around the truck and trailer, which is more than any other truck on the road. This means drivers have a clear view of the truck when hitching up to a trailer, backing into a parking space, or driving down the road. These views are part of the Silverado’s Advanced Trailering System, which also includes an in-vehicle trailering app that allows drivers to create custom trailer profiles with pre-departure checklists, trailer lighting diagnostics, tire pressure monitoring, and more.

The Silverado’s trailering tech doesn’t stop with the app. Chevrolet gives drivers even more confidence when hauling heavy loads with safety and driver-assistance technology like Trailer Sway Control, Auto Grade Braking, and Hill Start Assist. For 2021, Chevrolet has even added a host of new features, including Trailer Theft Alert, Brake Gain Memory, and an Electric Parking Brake Hookup Assist.

#6 A Tailgate that Works for You

We can’t ignore the Silverado 1500’s impressive Multi-Flex Tailgate that works with you and not against you like the cumbersome tailgates found on other trucks. The all-new tailgate offers six different functions that help drivers access, load, and unload the cargo bed. Drivers can open the primary gate using the key fob, a switch in the truck’s cab, or a button on the tailgate. The inner gate folds down to give drivers easier access to the bed, and the gate can be folded to create a large full-width step that can hold up to 375 lbs.

The tailgate also features a primary gate load stop that keeps longer items like lumber from sliding out of the bed. The inner gate load stop works similarly by keeping items at the top of the bed from sliding out when the truck is moving. The inner gate also offers a work surface or secondary loading space. For example, drivers can use the space to load additional materials or hold laptops, blueprints, or other important documents when working on a job site.
