The Buick Legacy

Buick has been manufacturing automobiles nearly as long as they have been around. The company was formed in 1899 by David Dunbar Buick, making them the oldest active American automaker. Since its inception, the brand’s history has been fun and exciting since the beginning. Buick recovered from near bankruptcy in 1904 to become one of the world’s largest automakers. And from day one, Buick was a major product innovator. It all started when they created the first overhead valve engine.

Buick was also the first automaker to introduce the closed-body car, and they achieved this four years ahead of Ford. In 1931, Buick debuted two major achievements; the straight-8 engine and the synchromesh transmission. In 1938, Buick introduced a shift lever and turn signals mounted on the steering column. Buick would become so popular that they were exporting cars to the British royal family.

Styles change drastically over the years, and Buick vehicles have several features that set them apart from the rest. The legendary Buick style formed over the last 100 plus years includes lasting features like the iconic Trishield logo that prominently appears on the front of every Buick model, the curved trim line that runs nearly the entire length of the vehicle, and the Waterfall grille, which has been a Buick trademark since the 1960s.

Many consider the year 1936 as the spot in time that marked the beginning of the Buick renaissance. The 1936 Buick Special was capable of hitting speeds up to 85 MPH, and Buick was not shy about touting this accomplishment. In 1953, Buick celebrated its 50th anniversary by releasing the Roadmaster Skylark Convertible, which featured the brand’s first V8 engine. This was the beginning of a trend that saw Buick shift to producing more performance cars and convertibles with sharp looks and sleek designs.

The 1970s saw Buick devote their time and energy to developing luxury sedans with roomy and luxurious interiors. The large luxury sedan market was saturated with the likes of the Buick Roadmaster and Park Avenue, both of which defined and dominated the luxury sedan market. Buick models offered a wide range of luxury options and features and were wildly popular.

From its humble beginnings, the Buick brand has greatly impacted the automotive industry and remains General Motors’ crown jewel. If he were alive today, David Buick would be proud of the emphasis on quality and style that has kept the brand as popular as ever. Buick has set itself above the rest, fitting into a unique category of luxury and style that is actually affordable.

Buick Warranties

When you drive off our lot in a new Buick, your vehicle is backed by an excellent warranty. Buick’s warranty coverage is dubbed the Experience Buick Protection Program, and if you purchase a new Buick, you will receive the no-deductible New-Vehicle Limited Warranty. The Bumper-to-Bumper portion of the warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, and the powertrain warranty is five years or 60,000 miles.

The Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty covers everything inside and outside of your new Buick that is not related to the powertrain. This includes everything from problems with the headlights to issues you might have with the infotainment system. Buick’s Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty covers defects in workmanship or materials, and you will not be billed for parts or labor. Under the Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty, you can also enjoy corrosion coverage. If you notice a hole that has rusted through the sheet metal, you are covered.

Another part of the Experience Buick Protection Program also includes one complimentary maintenance visit. However, subsequent visits that might include new windshield wipers, oil changes, and new tires are not covered. Under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, certified technicians will make all repairs, and they will only use genuine GM parts. And should you sell your Buick before the warranty expires, it is fully transferable to another owner.

The Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage covers problems that might occur to the engine, transmission, and transaxle. Under the hood, the powertrain warranty covers everything from electrical components to seals and gaskets. Should there be a defect with the oil pump, water pump, or timing chain, it is all covered under this warranty.

As part of the five-year/60,000-mile warranty, Buick provides 24/7 roadside assistance. Their roadside crew is available to provide such services as fuel delivery, a flat tire change, or a jump start at no cost to you. Buick will also tow your vehicle to the nearest GM dealer for service should it be necessary. The program also includes a courtesy transportation program if your vehicle needs to be in the shop for a few days.
