Out Of State Customers Looking to Purchase From Coyle

All Customers intending to purchase from out of state should read the following:

How do pricing and rebates work?

The pricing advertised for our new vehicles on our website reflects the Chevrolet incentives applicable to residents of the Clarksville, Indiana region. It’s worth noting that Chevrolet may offer distinct incentives based on your home address, which could result in a variance in pricing.

Can I use my own financing?

Before delivery, the dealership requires certified or wired funds from your lender. Unfortunately, drafts, letters of credit, or funds on hold will not be accepted for out of state deals. On the bright side, we’re delighted to offer our assistance with financing.

Will I need Insurance?

In order to purchase, you must present state and VIN-specific insurance, along with your driver’s license from your state. If you’re transferring a license plate, a copy of your state registration will also be necessary. It’s important to note that all of these items must have an address that matches your new registration.

How would I sign the documents?

To meet proof of identity requirements, it’s mandatory that you sign all documents in person.

Can the vehicle be shipped to me?

Sure thing! We as a dealership do not ship the vehicles, but we can recommend and will work with third-party shipping companies to get your vehicle to you.

What taxes will I pay?

Many states have a “reciprocal” agreement with Indiana for sales tax, but not all. If you’re purchasing from a state that isn’t reciprocal, you’ll need to pay a 7% sales tax to Indiana in addition to your home state tax.

What if I am not returning home soon?

Unless your home state requires a vehicle emissions inspection, then this shouldn’t be an issue. Your home state will title and register the vehicle.

Can I handle my own title and registration?

If you are buying a preowned vehicle with certified or wired funds that are readily available, you can take the car with you right away. However, if you are purchasing a new vehicle or financing a preowned one, this won’t be possible. Lenders require the dealership to provide proof of registration and lien record, while Chevrolet necessitates proof of registration that matches any incentives you receive.

What additional fees are charged by my state?

Some states will not provide us the amount of local/city/county fees, state fees, sales tax, ad valorem tax, or use tax. In some cases, this will need to be paid separately to your own states titling departments. This may prohibit you from taking delivery of the vehicle so please check your own state laws before making the decision to purchase.

How long will it take to receive my new registration?

The processing time for out of state titles and registration varies significantly from state to state. If you’re required to submit emissions, state inspection, ad-valorem, or paid property tax-fee-assessment receipts, it will take longer to process. Assuming that we have all the necessary documents, our objective is to complete the registration within 30-60 days.
